October 11, 2016 marks the 5th annual "International Day of the Girl" by the United Nations as well as is Global Girl Power's 5th Birthday ! So in celebration of both of these momentous occasions we invite you to join us for an evening of celebration, dialogue and to discuss on the issues women & girls are facing locally and globally in the 21st Century and how we can make together a difference.
This year Global Girl Power together in partnership with Mannkind Charitable Society will be showing a 92 min documentary the movie Sold featuring a post film discussion on the dangers faced by women & girls globally due to the human.../sex trafficking industry and what is happening locally in Vancouver.
About Sold the Movie
Based on true stories, SOLD, is the story of Lakshmi who journeys from a pastoral, rural village in Nepal to a gritty brothel/prison called Happiness House in Kolkata, India.
Through one extraordinary girl’s story, SOLD illustrates the brutality of child trafficking, which affects millions of children around the globe every year. SOLD is a call to action, and a testament to the power and resilience of the human spirit.
We hope our film, SOLD, will inspire a global movement to address this crime domestically and internationally.
